Nikola Petanjko
about

Born January 7, 1966 near Paris, married, 1 child.

At the age of 25, after my computer science and linguist studies, I left France and settled in Geneva where I worked in the field of banking information technology.

As soon as the opportunity arises, with my family we set off to discover Asia to meet its peoples, its cultures, its colors, its smells, its very special weather, its culinary aspects and all its sensations.

In 2008, I left Geneva for Yvonand, a small village in the canton of Vaud, where I happily discovered its region and its varied nature, from the beaches of Lake Neuchâtel to the reeds of Grande-Cariçaie, surrounded by the Jura, hills and of the forests of Nord-Vaudois.
From 2017 to 2020, I travel the world every month for professional reasons, from South America to Australia, mainly to Singapore and India.
Several recent trips to Laos and Cambodia have made us discover the history of these marvelous countries which border the Mekong and have increased our interest in the region of Siem Reap and all the temples of Angkor.
This is certainly where my indescribable passion for images, colors, brightness, shades and shadows begins.
At the beginning of 2021, after these long periods of restrictions and working from home, I discovered photography, from the technique of recent cameras to the rules of shooting, I devoured all possible information in books and on the internet where I started. to follow several online courses and trainings.
I then invested in photo equipment and since then have spent all my free time discovering from all angles this wonderful nature that Yvonand and his region offer us.

My almost daily photo walks allow me to meet other photography enthusiasts, sometimes including astrophotography specialists who teach me the basics of taking the Milky Way and certain nebulae or galaxies.
In June 2021, encouraged by my family and loved ones, I decided to have some photos printed on matte aluminum and glossy HD-metal supports in 40x60 cm to know and understand the different printing technologies for wall decoration.
A few small local exhibitions took place in 2021, one is still in progress at the Hôtel-de-Ville restaurant in Yvonand at the start of 2022.
